The Dental Center at University Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility, completed in February, 2004. It features digital radiography (both direct and indirect), as well as intraoral photography. The practice is paperless, with all patient records, progress notes, images, scheduling, and billing done electronically. The facility consists of 10 treatment rooms and all support areas such as lab and sterilization. Additionally, the Dental Center features staff and resident offices, lunch room and a conference room equipped with LCD projector, internet connection and library.

The purpose of the Dental Center is to meet the community need for increased access to dental services and the academic need for postdoctoral general dentistry. The Dental Center at University Hospital is the first postdoctoral general dentistry program ever offered in Cincinnati.

Dental services are offered for special needs patients (e.g. those in need of general anesthesia for dental treatment due to mental retardation, complex medical problems, etc).

Meet the Dentist

Jerome E. McMahon, D.D.S., is the Director of the University Hospital Dental Center. Dr. McMahon received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Case Western Reserve University and then completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He is the founding director of the AEGD program at the University Hospital Dental Center and holds the rank of assistant professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. McMahon is a fellow of both the American Association of Hospital Dentists, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Additionally, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry and a retired Lt Colonel US Air Force Reserve Dental Corps. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association and the Cincinnati Dental Society.
